Established
in the year 1960 on the erstwhile Prabhat studio premises
at Pune and thereby inheriting a rich legacy in quality
Cinema, the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII)
has truly lived up to its avowed objective in the field
of imparting training in film making and television
programme production. Today the FTII is considered as
a Centre of Excellence not only in India but also in
Asia and Europe. Films made by the students of the institute
have entered in festivals both in India and abroad.
Many of them have won National and International awards

Film
Education is not just restricted to these, there are several
acting and technical institutes all over the country.
While some of them focus on ad film making, several others
are more inclined towards acting. Some of these
include Xaviers Institute of Communication and the Sophia
College Polytech Institute.

There are three self-contained independent
courses of different levels, each of the duration of
one academic year (40 weeks). Integration of film and
television is an important feature of these course .

1.
Basic Course in Film and Television (80 seats)
This course offers opportunity to a student to learn
the basic concepts and skills related to film and television
production in the fields of direction, cinematography,
audiography and editing. After completing this course,
the students will be equipped, technically and conceptually
to enter the field of film and television at a junior
level.

The Course enables a student to develop professional
skills in his/her chosen field of specialization. The
classes, practicals and workshops conducted by in-house
and guest faculty offer a student scope for developing
a focussed approach in concepts and skills both in film
and television. On completion of this course, a student
will be able to work in a professional capacity in the
field of his/her specialization.

This
course offers opportunity to the students to showcase
the conceptual and technical skills acquired by them
in their respective specializations and to work as creative
members of a production team.
Some inputs on advanced topics would also be given,
specially, in technical areas. Students, during this
course work on professional equipment.

Eligibility : A degree in any discipline from
a recognized university or its equivalent.
( A degree in any discipline with Physics as one of
the subjects at least at 10+2 level for candidates who
wish to specialize in audiography after completing the
Basic Course in Film and Television.)

Eligibility : Successful completion of the Basic
Course in Film and Television of FTII, Pune. In addition
to the above, Physics as one of the subjects at 10+2
level for specialization in Audiography.

The candidates who fulfill the required qualifications
should submit their applications for admission to the
Basic Course in Film and Television in the prescribed
form, when announced.
Selection will be made on the basis of performance
in the Written Test and Interview.
A: Written Test:
Paper I :
a) General Knowledge (Based on Indian Society, Culture
and Arts)
b) General Mental Ability (Based on ability for abstract
reasoning, analogies and similarities, perception of
visual images.)
Paper II :
Specific Area Test ( To test interest in arts in general,
film and television in particular and aptitude for the
two media)
